I agree with the people saying that the teacher should fix the problem. WIth her authority she could give that bully detention for a whole year but she instead wants to keep her hands clean and writes never ending notes.

If the child asked the teacher to just give them notes so the situation doesnt get worse then how can you fault them for that. They are following the direction they were given. That to me sounds like such a caring teacher that they will protect them even from potential problems.

But the student doesnt know what it best for him and the teacher does which is why they should step in and do something to solve the problem and not perpetuate it.

Anything but ignore it because the bully will just start bothering another student when he cant find this one

You would be amazed at how many teachers won't step in for whatever reasons they have. There needs to be consistency, stability and straight across the board rules and procedures for bullying in any form. It needs to be like the TWA in airports, a JOKE is taken with the utmost sincerity and dealt with before it gets out of hand. lol
