School Probation

Maybe they should issue a probation program that students enter if they have been bullying other students. You should have to check into a counselor an have a daily list of things that you have to take care of and if you ever slip up you have a harsher punishment. You have to do this when you are an adult and you face legal problems so why not get kids used to what it will be like if they continue to break rules while at school. I think the constant supervision will guide them in the direction of wanting to follow the rules so they can have their freedom.

Some parents will be against this because they will claim that it is too harsh for a kid. I think if you give them the adult form of probation then yes it would be a little harsh for just bullying but if you curve it for the age of the student then it could work. Instead of picking up trash on the highway you pick up trash at the school. Instead of reporting to a PO you report to your counselor. If have to complete things by a certain time and fail the punishment is not jail but a detention of some sort. It could happen if you made it a lot less harsh but still have a clear set of rules so everyone knows the consequences.

There is a clash between views on how to deal with problem children. Some think they should be treated similar to adults so they experience what can happen to them if they stay on this road. Others believe that rehabilitation and counseling works helping the child fully understand why their decisions are wrong. Each side makes good points why there method would work and the others fails. One side says kids arent capable of fully understanding so you must put fear into them that curbs their actions. The other side says fear and itimidation only solves short term and doesnt give the child a complete lesson on why they cannot act this way.

Either way works but based off of your own personal theory is how you address the problem. Whatever way you decide to go make sure that one thing is clear. There is always a consequence for your actions whether it be short term or long term and when you make the wrong choices sometimes you will have to suffer for them. Once that point is clearly states then it is up to the individual child what path they want in life.

I have always been an advocate for extreme punishment no matter the age. When you are given a severe punishment for something then you never want to do that again because the punishment wasnt worth the crime. Making the punishment much worse then what they would expect will make anyone straighten out. Now if you do this to kids who hate to have any punishment they will understand that what they did will cause them problems in the future. Keeping ths kids on a probationary period will remind them they are not off the hook so they better not act up again or they will be right back where they started. I am all for kids getting probation in school if they show signs of being out of control.

Do you really think some of the over protective parents that believe their little darling could do nothing wrong would ever allow that to happen? They know that its their kid who is the biggest problem but they ignore the warnings from the other adults and teachers on how to give them more discipline. Its the parents that know their kid would be in the most problems so they would never agree to it.

parents dont run the schools the schools district does and if they think a school is so badly behaved that they need a program like this then the kids will have to play ball and so will the parents.

I wonder if this could actually be a reality soon. Does anyone know if anything like this is already in place in our country?

No probation in schools just a record of all of your problems. When your record becomes to full of a nasty history then they deal with you accordingly. Kids wont arent responsible enough to remember their homework so if you gave them probation they would neglect a requirement and become in further trouble.

Your probabtion is having a bad reputation so whenever you do something questionable you will get into trouble and everyone would just get a warning. Teachers know who the problem children are.

School probation should be administered after more than one physical altercation in a 9 month period. I dont know how to break down the emotional bullying yet but at least its a start!
