There are kids at schools that travel in packs and they prey on the weak but when punished they are only individuals. In my opinion if you are in a group and caught fighting then the group is in trouble for not preventing the fight or running for help. We have to send the message to kids that gangs are not acceptable in schools.

If it is more than 12 kids they should be considered part of the riot act even if they are still considered minors it should change for violent kids that fight in large groups.

If a student is in a known gang at school and the teachers find out then what happens to that student?

They should be expelled. Why would you ever be involved in a gang if you werent up to no good. Its a band of thugs and if you can prove they are a member I say get rid of them before they cause problems.

My son's school has a policy that if you are proven to be in a violent gang you will be expelled from the school. Its really the only way to combat a gang and its the right thing to do.No kid that is getting aneducation should fear an entire group of kids.

I must be living under a rock because I thought all of the gangs kind of disolved away after the 90's ended.

Unfortunately not even close. In some communities it is considered family tradition to join the gang and fight for whatever they want you to so it seems like they will never go away.

We have such stiff punishments for felony crimes but why not make a seperate one for gangs. They should make it damn near impossible to be a productive member of society if you are proven to be a member of a gang. Make it such a bad punishment that even hardened criminals are afraid of the consequences of being in a gang.

I heard that sometimes they will try to reform the student and have him leave his gang or face expulsion or juvenile hall.It depends on the age of the student and how cooperative his parents for their success rate.
