This is also called hazing and its frowned upon in many schools so if you bring it to your coaches attention he will deal with them

You should have a dean that will discipline those students and the coach will be held resposible for not reporting it.

You could tell a teacher, have escorts, tell a friend or group of friends to have your back. I often found that calling out the biggest bully in front of all his friends helps with this, putting him in his place verbally, it makes more people join your ranks as they see who is actually in the right and that its wrong and not a form of entertainment. I also advise self defense classes as well. The greatest victories are achieved with peace and self control.

Exactly, when you lead by example people will follow. A bully can remain a bully until someone shows how to defeat him. Then everyone will know if I do this he wont bully me too.

Assistant coaches will almost always help with stuff like that because they handle most of the things of the court or field between players. Keeping the assistant coach aware of the bullying will allow them to make the changes needed.

Most kids in sports think that their sport is everything to them. If the coaches or school wants to properly handle a bully just bench them until they shape up and that will get them to come around.

Some coaches like to bully their players, in thinking it will make them play harder, tougher, better, whatever. I do not like it when it becomes too harsh on the kids, or crosses a line of making fun of a player in front of their peers. I used to go to my son's practices to listen. I have heard some bad stuff being said by the coaches, but never to my son, and some parents were already involved.

Set them up. Find and then tell a willing teacher that you don't want to be seen as a snitch, then provide them with the time/place, where (most likely) the bullying will occur, and have them bust the guys. Then hopefully it will stop.
