Parent bullying

Parents can be some of the biggest bullies! Then their kids become bullies or withdrawn. Its a vicious cycle and it needs to be broke.

My dad wanted to toughen me up so he was hard on me... some kids today might think that would be bullying.

My mom used to nit pick how i ate, dressed, my weight, how I wore my hair, how I talked, the grades i made, the friends I had, everything. She didn't do it lovingly as a mother guides a daughter, but, meanly, making me miserable, self conscious, and when I got older, insecure. I know now that it was a form of bullying and when I went to college, found myself doing this to my friends, unknowingly, and had to learn the hard way. Im glad I was able to learn and unlearn bad habits.

I know exactly what you are saying. I had a similar mom. Im sorry that you had to endure that. I really feel your pain.

Is it really considered adult bullying when you are bullying your child or is it just child abuse?

I wouldnt consider that bullying when it comes from a parent of his or her own child but there are parents that will bully other children.My nephew is a really good high school basketball player and I am embarrassed at how some of the adults conduct themselves on school property no less.
