"As a gay man coming out was probably one of the most frightening things I have ever dealt with. I had this feeling that once I told my friends and family everyone was just going to abandon me. Hiding who I was for so many years caused me a lot of pain that I could have avoided. I was bullied very badly in school both physically and verbally. Dealing with the kids beating me up and pushing me into lockers and calling me a fag it felt like at the moment it would never get better but it does, in fact it gets so much better."
