A boy aged ten was being bullied so much at school he tried to escape, his mum has claimed.

Even when he was removed from Baynards Primary School in Tiptree he was subjected to offensive messages on Facebook.

His mum, Sade Dubbini, has accused teachers of failing to stop the bullying before it escalated.

She said: “Opportunities were missed to nip it in the bud.

“It caused things to escalate extremely quickly to the point where he was being abused almost on a daily basis.

“He’s not going back.”

Mrs Dubbini, from Feering, said the bullying had begun at the start of the school year in September.

It started with pushing, shoving and name-calling.

She said it escalated to a point her son, who she asked not to be identified, tried to escape from the school.

Mrs Dubbini was called to the Townsend Road school at lunchtime on Thursday, November 14.

She kept him out of school, but days later she discovered another pupil had sent him offensive messages on Facebook.

She said: “He was extremely confused by the content because he’s never been exposed to this kind of language.

“I was absolutely horrified.”

Mrs Dubbini has met with headteacher Nerys Maidment and a governor, but says she did not feel reassured and subsequently contacted the police.

She has also contacted the mother of the boy who sent the messages, who said the school had not notified her. Mrs Dubbini said her son will be taught at home until a new school can be found.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police have received a report of a child being harassed on social media.

“Officers have made an appointment to take a statement.”

The Gazette contacted Baynards Primary School, but was directed to Essex County Council’s press office.

A statement sent on behalf of Baynards School and governing body said: “Baynards School takes any allegation of bullying seriously and will always investigate parents’ concerns.

“In this particular incident we have investigated fully and followed appropriate school procedures.

“We also advised the pupil’s mother to contact the police with regard to her child being sent some offensive online messages that occurred outside school and have arranged for a police officer to visit the school to talk to pupils about the seriousness of cyber bullying and its consequences.

“We would like to stress the wellbeing of all our pupils is incredibly important to us and we will continue to monitor the situation and work with the parent to address any concerns.”
