As a child, I saw kids my own age getting bullied or ridiculed for being overweight or very smart. I didn't like what was happening to them and hoped it would never happen to me. I was wrong. Throughout my life I have been bullied by my parents, family friends, exes etc. Growing up, my parents told me to be an individual, not a follower. I did. Well the steps I took in becoming an individual, I thought were good and bad. My family, however, wasn't amused or happy. Physical and emotional abuse took place which left me empty and low. I couldn't understand how someone could say I love you, then hurt you physically. With that, I turned towards drugs and hard rock music. This was to be my safety net. Nothing could hurt me when I had my two favorite things in life.

Kids would make fun of me in high school, because of my size. In 10th grade, I was 4ft 6" and weight about 75 pounds. I had to wear little girl clothes til I was 17. Not a good thing when you're in high school and appearance is everything. So, my drug and heavy metal phase went deeper and deeper. I didn't care about anyone or myself. My hair was always in my eyes, so no one could see the pain. When I was 18 I was finally a size 0. So happy.....my father said I was getting fat. What? The drug phase ended for awhile while I was in the military. Came back in the mid 90's.

In my mid to late 20's until last year, I had a major health infection that was killing my body. I was so afraid to go to the Dr to get it checked out that I let it get out of control. When I would be out in public, I noticed people were pointing at me and laughing. My parents and coworkers said horrible comments to me that made me feel low and angry. . The infection had made my body sick, swollen and you could see the sickness in my face. I was literally dying and didn't know it. Last year, I knew it was time to get help with my health. Through the power of prayers and support from my friends and God, I was able to deal with the surgeries and recovery. I am now healthy and taking charge.

From all of this that has happened, I now take a stand when being put down, bullied or a negative action on something I want. Let's now take a stand on bullying being stopped everywhere. Kids are killing themselves because of this. This should not be happening. Let's all get together with Bullyville and Bullyblast! Put an end to this nightmare that so many people of all races and ages are dealing with. Thank you.
