DOCTOR Who star Karen Gillan has told how she was bullied at school because of her red hair.
The 5ft 11in actress – who plays the Time Lord’s companion Amy Pond – said she was “itching” to leave Inverness behind.
So at 16 she enrolled on a drama course in Edinburgh before going on to train at the Italia Conti theatre school in London.
Karen, 24, said: “I remember walking down the school corridor and someone going, ‘Eurgh, you’re tall, lanky and ginger!’ But I never had a problem with being tall and always believed red hair would benefit me in the long run.”
She became the face of fashion house Boing and started modelling for designer Allegra Hicks.
The revamped show’s sixth series, with eleventh Doctor Matt Smith, will be broadcast simultaneously in the UK and the US from April 23.

Its odd how so many pretty girls are picked on in school for not being pretty. Rule#1- dont take advice from kids in school, they dont have a clue yet
