Don’t let Becca Tobin’s “mean girl” character on
Glee fool you — because the actress, who is actually very kind and sweet, was bullied by mean girls herself growing up.

The star is opening up to RumorFix with her testimonial of her past experience with bullying.

“I transferred schools halfway through my senior year, and dealt with a lot of bullying from a specific group of girls at the new school,” Becca tells us. “I transferred from a performing arts high school, so the girls really enjoyed talking about what a “theater nerd” or a “freak” I was. The only girl friend I had at the new school started ignoring me, because the other girls threatened to kick her out of their clique if she didn’t,” she adds.

The Glee star reveals that the bullying got so bad that she started secluding herself from regular school activities, “I started skipping pep-rallies on Fridays because I would sit alone and receive dirty looks and mean comments from the other girls. Being the new kid is difficult enough, but being bullied on top of it made it pretty miserable.”

Tobin, who plays the snobby new cheerleader, Kitty, this season, is is using her rough past to help others. She’s the female spokesperson for the anti-bullying website BullyVille along with male spokesperson Dj Ashba of Guns N’ Roses.
