Danny is one the sons of Irish comedian Brendan O'Carroll, best known as the creator and star of "Mrs. Brown's Boys" . . Danny left school at aged 15 because he suffers from severe dyslexia, just like his dad and younger brother.
Mrs Brown’s Boys star Danny O’Carroll has told how he was bullied at school because of his father’s shows.
Danny, who plays Buster in the hit TV series, admitted he hated his dad’s early stand-up performances.
He revealed his friends’ parents wouldn’t allow him to call around to their homes because of Brendan’s sometimes risque routines,
Danny said: “I have to admit I used to hate it because I was bullied at school because of it.
“I wasn’t allowed to call to my friends’ houses because of dad’s early shows – because they thought he was so crude.
“But they didn’t see the other side of him – the side of the man who would sit down and chat to us at home and do our homework with us all the time.
“They couldn’t distinguish between the man on stage and the person he was off-stage but we knew the difference and that was all that mattered.”
The 30-year-old actor has just two days of filming left to do on the Mrs Brown movie.
He revealed: “I think it will be a fantastic film. I got to do lots of mad stuff like jumping into the River Liffey and driving a truck through Dublin.
“It’s quite different than the television show but I think people are going to love it.”
Danny said he’s also been offered a number of TV jobs outside the family business but is so busy with Mrs Brown that he doesn’t know if he will be able to do any of them.
One is a travel series with Channel 4 in which he has to go and live with families around the world.
He said: “I would love to do it. Why not? But there is so much happening now we’re booked up until 2016.
“Fitting it in will be tough.”
Danny now lives in the village of Manorcunningham, Co Donegal, and doubts if he will ever return to his native Dublin.
He added: “I am here 11 years and I love it. I don’t think I will ever go back.”
