Reema Khan known by her screen name Reema, is a Pakistani Lollywood film actress, director and producer. She has appeared in more than 200 films since making her debut in 1990.
When I entered the film world, Shakila Qureshi, Kavita and Babra Sharif were still around. Then there were Nadira, Neeli, Anjuman and Shahida Minni. Some of them showed me a very tough time. I was confronted with snide remarks about my height, and often bullied around.
Our women actors are made fun of everywhere. They can't address international audiences in English because they lack a foundation. Sushmita Sen could not speak English either, so why should it be such a big deal if Meera can't? The difference is that Sushmita learned to speak English through proper grooming whereas our actresses try it out on their own without any grooming. To portray a woman as strong or powerful is not out of place but to show her as a vulgar sidekick is unacceptable. If you wish to present her as an undaunted woman, you don't have to make her wear revealing clothes and strike indecent poses. Our media should not deride but instruct. There should be academies and institutes where actors, models and aspiring stars should train and groom. Govinda, Nana Patekar and Hema Malini could not speak English but now they feel comfortable chatting away in English. For decades we've labored under the misconception that to speak English is to deserve respect. To begin with, it's not our mother tongue. When the Indian actors make mistakes, no one's pushed because they have developed an accent and they can speak in a flow. Since our actors are conscious, even when they make the slightest error, the media catches up with it and blows it out of all proportions. It's a ridiculous phenomenon, and a case of bad education.

I know people that were born and raised in America and dont speak proper English that doesnt give me the right to bully them. How about helping someone instead of making fun of them
