Union J singer Jaymi Hensley says he can now rub pop stardom in the face of his bullies after he was hounded at school for being fat and gay.
The 22-year-old Luton lad said things hit rock bottom after he ballooned after breaking both his wrists.
‘I was really fat when I was a kid – massively huge. It was a big thing for me because I was dealing with my sexuality as well as with weight issues,’ he said.
The Carry You singer admitted the jibes ‘got me down’ but ‘made me want to do something with my life, and I have achieved more than all those people who gave me stick.’
Revealing his ordeal he told Top of the Pops magazine: ‘I was a gymnast and broke my wrist, so I wasn’t able to train any more. I went from training six times a week to doing nothing.’
But the star said he ditched chocolate, chips and fizzy drinks and took up dancing to reach stardom on The X Factor last year with his boyband.
