It was hard to recognize Raghu Ram during his recent trip to Vadodara, where he was shooting for his first Punjabi film Love You Soniye. Looking very different in a turban, Raghu laughs, "Aise main kahin bhi jaa sakta hu, log pehchaan nahi payenge! I drove down from Mumbai to Vadodara because I prefer that. And I love eating at the dhabas in and around Vadodara. In very few cities we find people serving food with such warmth!" Excerpts from a chat:
Big screen dreams: I am looking forward to new challenges and so, I took this up. I am also writing a book. We all worked very hard to make Roadies a success. There were times when I worked non-stop for 20 hours a day for a month. But you need new challenges to excite you. I had left Roadies a few years back but made a comeback since I was missing it. If I feel it's getting monotonous, I might take a break again!
The screen bully: Criticism hardly bothers me. I stay in a self-created bubble and get angry when I hear/see nonsense. In school, I used to get bullied a lot and it was quite serious in nature. I feel my life changed because of those unpleasant experiences. My personality was shaped in a certain way because I faced bullying of the worst nature.
Alter Ego: Rajiv, my twin, is way more mischievous than me. In fact, in school, I would diligently do my maths homework, while he would go and show it to the teacher. So, I used to get beaten up. But we share a great rapport.
The better half: It helps that Sugandha (Garg) is an actress herself and understands the demands of the profession. We hardly get to spend quality time with each other. It's only because of her that my personal and professional life has a perfect balance. I am very grateful that I have such a wonderful wife.
