Ada Nicodemou has revealed that she was bullied as a child because she is Greek-Cypriot.
The Home and Away actress, who plays Leah Patterson-Baker in the Australian soap, said that she struggled to deal with the racism riot storylines in the show last year since she had been picked on because of her looks before.
Nicodemou told TV Week magazine: "I actually didn't like [the storyline]. I found it very challenging. It was one that really hit home for me because, obviously with my background, I've experienced it and people I know also have firsthand experiences.
"I didn't understand what those girls [at school] meant by 'go home'. I didn't understand because I was only 7 and this was my home, so my mom had to explain it to me."
