Any father or mother would know that the ultimate stab in their heart is anything happening to their children.
And as a father it horrifies me to think that there are abused children who are suffering in silence, too afraid to speak out.
A lot of kids go through bullying - like I did when I was young. I am not anyone special but the difference is when I was getting bullied at school where I grew up in Australia, I had no-one to turn to.
I used to get picked on for the way I looked because a lot of the kids were blond-haired and blue-eyed. It was so hurtful being called names and I felt terribly desperate and lonely at times. I couldn't rat on anybody because it was the ultimate no-no.
I'd have been considered weak if I told. I didn't go to my parents because I was ashamed and they would have said something to my teacher. The school would then have acted and I would have been picked on even more for being a 'dobber'. But now you can ring ChildLine and you can be anonymous.
I'd definitely have used Childline had it been around in my day. I think it's really important they know they can get help from ChildLine without saying who they are, and that is very reassuring and comforting in itself. I became an ambassador for the NSPCC in June 2006 because of my own experiences of being bullied.
I ran the marathon for the NSPCC earlier this year. I will always do anything I can to raise money to fund all the great work it does.
I believe all children should have a loving childhood and a great future ahead of them, just like my kids will.
