Contostavlos says that she was 16 when she was ****d after having a drink that, unknown to her at the time she consumed the drink, had been spiked with a dr*g that incapacitated her. The male assailant whom she believes spiked the drink (he is not named in the book) then forced her to have sex with him. “I couldn’t even move, let alone get up or speak. I knew I’d been dr*gged. I went into the bathroom and burst into tears," she writes in the book.
Meanwhile, as a child, Contostavlos endured bullying from her peers who teased her about her mother's mental illness. Her father, musician Plato Contostavlos, confirmed the bullying in an interview with the Sunday Mirror: “My daughter was horribly bullied. It was awful. Children would scream, ‘Your mum’s a loony.' Tulisa was about 5 years old when it first started. She would come home crying all the time. In the end I had to tell her, ‘I can’t go and sort this problem out for you. This is the kind of thing you are going to face in life and you have to stand up for yourself.'
“Then one day when she was about 7, after I had trained her for about six months, she came back from school and said, ‘Dad I knocked one of them out. You were right Dad, I did it.' It had to be done, the misery that child went through at school was unbelievable. Every time she went in she was terrified.”
Tulisa eventually transferred to another school. Years later, her father and uncle helped launch N-Dubz's career when she was a teenager. N-Dubz also includes Tulisa's cousin Dino "Dappy" Contostavlos and Richard "Fazer" Rawson, who would become Tulisa's boyfriend for more than two years before they split in January 2012.
