X Factor starlet Janet Devlin’s mum has opened up about her daughter’s “brave” decision to tell the world she was bullied at school.
Flame-haired Janet, 17, revealed this week that she was tormented for not being pretty.
But the teen said she never let their cruel taunts get her down.
And speaking exclusively to the Irish Daily Mirror yesterday her proud mum Patricia insisted Janet never let the bullies be*t her.
She said: “It was just schoolgirls being silly but Janet being Janet coped with it and she has remained very loyal to her friends that stood by her. But like she said, she doesn’t hold anything against them and that’s not put on, she genuinely means that. It’s all water under the bridge.
“But I wouldn’t want anyone to think she’s in X Factor because of what she went through.
“It had nothing to do with that, she went on X Factor for her. She’s strong-minded and she only does things she wants to do.”
Tyrone singing sensation Janet told this week’s Now magazine that school bullies made her life hell because she was different.
She revealed: “I had a problem making friends and it was tough. I wasn’t cool – I had a very long blonde frizzy hair, I never wore make-up and I wasn’t pretty. People would take the mick out of me. I don’t like talking about being bullied, but I forgave the girls who did it.”

Dont ever listen to anyone who calls you anything but beautiful. You have such lovely, long red hair that many women would die to have.
