In life everyone goes through obstacles, situations that we place on ourselves and many of the times situations that have been placed on us by others. My sixth grade year, I was walking to P.E. when I was tripped from behind by a classmate of mine. Him and two other classmates pushed me down and proceeded to kick and punch me while I was on the ground. I was caught completely off guard and was not able to defend myself until I pulled myself off the ground and punched one of the guys. They all ran into the locker room and I went to report the incident to the current teacher at the time. In result of the incident, me and the other kids involved were all suspended. Unfair you may say, I would concur but you can't argue with school policies. Prior to that day I was never suspended before for anything in my life. Not only was I bullied but I took my frustrations out on a friend and became a victim to my own circumstance. However, rather than getting down on myself I used these situations to better myself. To motivate myself to be better than I was the day before, not for a day or a week but for the rest of my entire life. This was not the last time I was bullied but I always made sure to remember why bullies put down others.
Isaac Newton said, "for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction," and for many bullies across the world these actions have come from a place much deeper than what's visible on the surface. I hear stories everyday of another kid becoming a victim to another case of bullying but no one really attempts to discover the psychology of a bully. In many instances, believe it or not bullies are usually the victim. Going back to Newton's law, the action a bully takes on his victims is in response to an equal or opposite reaction they were feeling from another individual. Hardships at home, frustrations at work, fear, and overcoming negativity are all real life circumstances that we as people face everyday. Although everyone deals with adversity differently, the problem occurs when we take our personal irritations and bring them into social settings. (ie. Classroom, Playground, Work, and Social Media). Furthermore, bullying is not just among children and teenagers but overwhelms the work environment. Boss's harassing other co-workers and managers threatening those who are there for the same purpose as them, which is to provide for their families and progress through their careers. How is anyone suppose to achieve anything when they are dreadfully waiting on the next time they will be tormented? Can you live like this? I know I can't and I didn't. It took me some time, it took growth and understanding, and it took someone close to me to uplift me.
People always think that you need some type of big corporation or a huge platform to provoke change among society. People wait for someone to set an example instead of being the example set for others. There are already tons of followers but we never have enough leaders. All I want to convey through my words is to not be timid. If you witness something, talk, if you hear about something report it. It is never too early and never too late to stop a bully and potentially save someone's life.
Lead and the rest will follow.

Having been on both ends of the spectrum this is a great message and inspiring! I agree that change can start with one person who stands up for what is right and it can help by stopping a negative pattern by either changing and/or even saving someone's life.

I have personally never agreed with the school rule that the student who was beat up in a fight and had nothing to do with starting it is sent home as well. They give the lame excuse of cooling off but if you are not normally aggressive than why should you have to cool off and miss a day of a lesson

Being attacked by a group of people would be so traumatic its amazing how people can become stonger and succeed amongst all odds.
