I was abused by my ex husband. He physically and emotionally abused me. I've had guns pointed at me, punched,kicked,thrown around the house and told I was nothing almost on a daily basis. I was so brainwashed that my self-esteem was nothing. I thought the only way out was suicide. After many years of abuse I finally realized that I wasn't the problem he was. That's when I stopped turning the anger inward and found the strength to leave him after he tried to burn the house down with them kids and I in it. We left not knowing where we would go but it was the best thing I ever did. But the scars remain for my sons and myself. My advice to anyone in this situation is to get out before there are scars. If someone hits you once they WILL do it again. I am now happily remarried to a man who has never said an unkind word to me nor ever raised a hand against me. You can get out. You can have happines. Love doesn't hurt.
