“The Amazing Spider-Man” star Andrew Garfield reveals that he has a special kinship with his character, Peter Parker: Both were bullied as children.
Garfield explains to Showbiz Tonight he too had “experienced meanness, bullying and all that.”
Garfield says he admires the story of Spider-Man because the superhero chose to be above the bullying and only use his newfound powers for good. “That was always such a powerful story for me, and evidently for so many kids,” reveals Garfield. “To see a guy with so much power that befalls upon him to use it for good is a rare example, because usually the people who want power aren't the people who should have it.”
“The Amazing Spider-Man” opens today nationwide.
