Breakout star Susan Boyle, who first appeared on the reality show Britain's Got Talent, admitted that her looks had earned her much ridicule in school. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Boyle recalled classmates who burned cigarette holes in her clothes, called her names and hit her on the head.
"That is the physical, but the more hurtful is the psychological," she told Fox News. "It made me feel as if nobody loved me. I didn't really matter, I was just a target. Once you give bullies that power, they've really got a hold on you."

I remember when Susan first became popular and everyone was kind of giving her back handed compliments. People were saying things like "She may look hideous but she has the voice of an angel" or " You wouldnt think anything good would come out of her when you first see her but then she sings and its great" Im sure her success was a little bitter sweet to know they all wanted to change her looks in order to begin her career.
